Australian Poetry - Stop the Clock! Thief at Large!
49
Forbidden Time
Sometimes
It's kinda nice
To taste the fripperies
Of early morning...
The wimpy murmurs of sunlight...
The clacking weekly garbage truck...
The odd piercing note or shriek
Of a bird...
Still leaves waiting for a breeze...
The strange silence of a narrow suburban road...
Pre-peak hour...
But I should not be here...
Stolen time on a weekday...
A crime of the spirit
When the body grows weak!
But forbidden fruits
Taste sweet
For a while...
Bring your poetry alive!
Take the plunge and make your poetry known!
